The Bentley House Wedding Venue in St. George, Utah

Aug 18
11 min read

The Bentley House is a historic Victorian wedding venue tucked into downtown St. George, Utah, and it has so much personality before you even add the flowers! I had the honor of photographing a wedding here alongside Bailey of Dottie Event Co., whose team transformed the courtyard from a ceremony space into a beautiful luncheon while guests enjoyed the carousel across the street.

Between the lighting, mature trees, colorful florals, and special little moments throughout the day, this Bentley House wedding showed just how special an intimate wedding day in the heart of St. George can feel!

Aubrey and Sheena, the owners of The Bentley House, told me that every wedding they host ends up looking a little different, which I think is part of what makes this space so fun. A huge thank you to them and to Bailey of Dottie Event Co. for helping me make this guide as accurate and helpful as possible for future couples!

Why Choose The Bentley House for Your St. George Wedding?

The Bentley House is such a beautiful choice for couples who want a wedding venue with history, yet still plenty of room for personality. The Victorian home sits in downtown St. George and includes both indoor spaces and a shaded outdoor courtyard, which gives you flexibility for your ceremony, luncheon, and portraits without needing to travel between multiple locations.

I really love this venue for spring and fall weddings, when the weather makes it easier to enjoy the courtyard and the mature trees provide even more shade for guests. The historic architecture already gives the property so much personality, but it can still feel completely different depending on the florals, tables, and details you bring in. It's intimate, welcoming, and full of little corners that photograph beautifully!

The History of The Bentley House in St. George

Part of what makes The Bentley House so special is that its character is completely real. The Victorian home was built in 1876 by William Oscar Bentley for his bride-to-be, Mary Ann Mansfield. In a plot twist I definitely didn't expect, he sold it to his brother Joseph just two weeks before their wedding. The home later became a gathering place for much of St. George’s early social life, so celebrations have been part of its story for a very long time!

After changing hands, being used for offices and storage, and sitting empty for more than 50 years, the home was saved from demolition and carefully restored in the 1980s. Today, couples get to celebrate inside a piece of St. George history, surrounded by the Victorian details that make The Bentley House feel so different from a traditional wedding venue.

Today, The Bentley House is owned by Aubrey and Sheena Wilson, a mother-daughter team who fell in love with its history and wanted to give the home a new chapter. They've created a space that still honors its Victorian character while feeling fresh and ready for weddings, luncheons, and community gatherings. I love that the house is still doing what it has always done best: bringing people together to celebrate!

Wedding Spaces at The Bentley House

I love when a venue gives couples room to make the day feel like their own, and The Bentley House does exactly that! With the historic home and the outdoor courtyard, there are so many ways to use the property for a ceremony, luncheon, portraits, and all of the little moments in between.

The Courtyard | Outdoor Ceremony & Reception Space

The courtyard was one of those spaces that just kept getting prettier as the day went on. The mature trees gave guests plenty of shade, and the light filtered through the leaves so beautifully. Plus, the historic house made the sweetest backdrop for their outdoor ceremony.

Afterward, guests received tokens to ride the carousel across the street while Bailey and the Dottie Event Co. team completely transformed the courtyard for the luncheon and speeches. It was such a fun way to keep everyone entertained during the transition, and by the time they returned, the space was ready for the next part of the celebration!

Sweet Afton Floral brought in all of the colorful flowers, making the courtyard feel romantic and completely alive. It was the perfect example of how one space can feel totally different throughout a Bentley House wedding.

What Happens if It Rains?

This is something I asked Bentley House specifically so you don't have to! The venue has several shade tents available to use at the last minute if needed and Legacy Events & Rentals are prepared to provide larger tents at the last minute as well.

Inside the Historic Victorian Home

The inside of The Bentley House has just as much character as the courtyard, with large windows, exposed brick, wide doorways, and historic details throughout the home.

We didn't take any portraits inside during this wedding, but you can take a peek at The Bentley House gallery page to see what indoor wedding photos and portraits can look like in the space. It's a beautiful option for couples who want even more variety.

A Wedding Venue in the Heart of Downtown St. George

One of the coolest things about The Bentley House is that you’re right in downtown St. George instead of tucked away somewhere you have to drive to for every part of the day. The Carousel at Town Square is right across the street, and Grace and Zach made it part of their wedding experience by giving guests tokens to ride while Bailey and the Dottie Event Co. team flipped the courtyard from the ceremony into the luncheon setup.

I loved this idea because guests weren’t just waiting around for the next part of the day to start. They got to go do something fun together, and when they came back, the courtyard felt completely different.

Tips for Planning a Bentley House Wedding From a Wedding Planner

I wanted to bring in another perspective for this guide, so I asked Bailey, owner of Dottie Event Co., to share a few tips for planning a wedding at The Bentley House. Bailey has planned other events at the venue, and her team also handled the day-of coordination for Grace and Zach’s wedding featured throughout this blog.

What do you think couples should know about planning a wedding at The Bentley House before they book?

Bailey: The Bentley House is a gorgeous venue with versatile indoor and outdoor spaces. It is located in downtown St. George, Utah, with plenty of parking available.

Bailey: For The Bentley House, an intimate wedding works best. 50 guests or fewer would be ideal for keeping all of the festivities in the courtyard!

Bailey: Building in plenty of time for cocktails or hors d’oeuvres to be served in the main house works really well at The Bentley House. It gives the team time to flip the courtyard from a ceremony into a reception or dinner space.

Bailey: It gave us, as the coordinators, plenty of time to move all of the necessary items and reset the space with zero guest interference or impact on their experience. They simply went to do something fun, and when they arrived back, the space was totally flipped and ready for lunch!

Bailey: The proximity to downtown, parking, lovely architecture, mature trees, and greenery offers something very unique to St. George!

Meet Bailey of Dottie Event Co.

Bailey is the founder and coordinator behind Dottie Event Co., and one of those people I’m always so happy to see on a wedding day. She has more than eight years of event-planning experience in Southern Utah and is especially talented at keeping all of the moving pieces organized while still making the day feel fun and personal.

I love working with her because she brings so much care, creativity, and calm to the process, and her team is incredible at making sure couples can actually be present and enjoy everything they planned!

The Best Time of Year for a Bentley House Wedding

I recommend The Bentley House for a spring or fall wedding. Those seasons make it much easier to enjoy the courtyard, keep your guests comfortable, and take advantage of all the shade and beautiful light around the property.

Southern Utah summers don't mess around, so an outdoor wedding during the hottest months takes a little more planning! A later ceremony, plenty of water, and time indoors can definitely help, but spring and fall give you more freedom to enjoy the venue without constantly checking the temperature. The softer weather also makes the courtyard feel even better for dinner, speeches, and celebrating as the sun goes down.

A Few Thing to Know Before Booking

The Bentley House keeps things pretty flexible when it comes to vendors, which I love. There are no catering restrictions, so couples have the freedom to choose the food and team that fit their day best.

If you plan to serve alcohol, the venue does require a licensed and insured bartender. And because every wedding here can look a little different, I always recommend checking directly with The Bentley House before booking if you have a specific setup, décor idea, or vendor in mind!

Is The Bentley House Right for Your Wedding?

The Bentley House is such a good fit if you want a venue that feels full of character and a little different from a traditional ballroom or resort wedding. I love it for couples who want an outdoor wedding, appreciate historic architecture, and want their day to feel warm and personal rather than huge or overly formal.

Being right in downtown St. George is another huge perk. You have the Victorian home and courtyard for the main celebration, but you are also close to some of the fun little things downtown has to offer. Grace and Zach giving everyone carousel tokens between the ceremony and luncheon is the perfect example. Your wedding doesn't have to follow the exact same formula as everyone else's, and The Bentley House gives you a lot of room to make the day your own!

Meet Hannah, St. George, Utah Wedding Photographer & Videographer

Hi, I’m Hannah! I’m a wife, a mom, an Enneagram 3, and the person behind Hannah Mac Photography. I live in a tiny Southern Nevada town about 10 miles from Utah, which is close enough that I happily claim St. George as home too.

After more than eight years of photographing people, I still get ridiculously excited about the little moments that happen when no one is thinking about the camera. I also take anyone who tells me they “hate having their photo taken” as a personal challenge. More than anything, I love getting to know the people in front of my camera and creating colorful photos and films that let them come back to these seasons of life again and again.

I hope this little venue guide helped you get a better feel for The Bentley House and whether it could be the right fit for your day. If you’re planning your own Bentley House wedding and looking for a St. George wedding photographer, I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up! You can inquire about your date through my contact page, and I can’t wait to hear all about it!
