Shooting a Wedding at the Red Cliffs LDS Temple in St George!

The Red Cliffs Temple has only been open for just over a month and the weddings are already pouring in! I’ve been so excited to shoot here because of the gorgeous desert color and the incredible landscaping. You can tell they had photographers in mind when they did the landscaping.

Couples exit out the South side, or the back side, of the temple. Usually, I like shooting on a zoom lens during temple exits. It lets me stay far back enough to let the couple enjoy their moment and keep things natural with their guests. However, the exit space is very small, I highly recommend shooting on a wider angle lens such as a 24-70, 50, or 35 mm to accomodate the space.

Just past the exit, are a wide and convenient set of stairs. It is SO nice for big group photos. Something to be aware of though is that the backside of the temple is most likely facing the sun all day and most of the year. The best bet of not having sun directly on your face is if your sealing is in the late afternoon but even then you might still get some. Just below the stairs are some shaded, seating areas which are a LIFE SAVER for groups waiting their turn for photos. i would do my best to work quick though! The exit is right behind the stairs so if you want to avoid another group in your photos, I recommend working quickly. It doesn’t seem accommodated to work for more than one wedding at a time.

In the future we will most likely take the entire bridal party to the front of the temple for photos. The front of the temple has backlight (yay!), a grassy area with the entire temple in view, pillars, and reflecting pools. This was a really fun spot to spend some time with the couple doing portraits afterwards. Just remember when shooting here between the months of Late April - October that the temperatures can range between 80-115 degrees! Make sure to come prepared with water and electrolytes and enjoy shooting at the newest beautiful LDS temple in Southern Utah.

WHAT IS A CONTENT CREATOR?

A content creator is the newest and fastest growing job in the wedding industry! Content Creators are a wonderful addition to professional photography and videography. Their job is to get behind the scenes photos and videos on their phones throughout the day. They also can do live social media posting so that the friends and family who aren't there can feel like they are there, and  friends and family who ARE present can STAY present.

In an age where TikToks and Reels are where people like to share their memories, Content Creators can create trendy videos for the couple to share. This is a fun way to look back on your wedding day!

Content Creators for a wedding are also the quickest way to get a hold of your memories! While you wait for your professional products, content creators can deliver all of your photos/videos in 24 hours! They do not replace your photographer and videographer, however it does enhance your wedding day experience!

All my 2025 photo + video packages include a complimentary content creator! Reels/Tiktoks and additional coverage may be added for additional price.
